Omar Farouk drove a delivery truck through the narrowest streets of his home city before he came to Port Vesper, where he drove them faster. He has a map in his head that updates itself: which bridge is open, which tram is late, which road will be blocked by a funeral. He turns the navigation off; he has never needed it. He wears a cream-colored duster coat and drives with a steady, unhurried grace that makes passengers forget how fast they are going. The Old Man hired him to take an urgent letter across the city on a night when every road was flooded, and Omar delivered it before the ink had dried. He keeps two cars: a long black sedan older than he is, and a low silver supercar for fast nights. He calls both "she," keeps a small photograph of his mother on the dashboard and never takes a corner he has not already driven in his mind. Crew members say he is the only man who has made them feel calm at full speed.
“Get in. I have never arrived late.”
