Story
Three Days Left
Song inherited a trading house at twenty-four. It was due to collapse in three days. She did not borrow, beg or sell. There was one empty chair, and she left it empty for the creditor who hated her most. She asked every creditor into one room. She laid the true accounts on the table.
The Cheapest Credit
She asked each creditor to decide for himself whether to stay. All of them stayed. She learned young that candor is the cheapest credit. Colleagues named her Jade, valuable and hard to forge. She pays debts at double and expects honesty in return.
The Table of a Rival's Child
At eleven she had been sent to the Sarti house as her family's pledge of peace. A rival's child at the Old Man's table. He raised her as his own. When she grew up she offered to buy the Mansion to repay him. He declined, and she respected him more for it.
Twice the Fee
When the Letter arrived, she paid the messenger twice what he asked. A debt, to her, is never left half-paid. She believes everything has a price. The art is knowing it, and knowing what should not be sold. She will not sell you. "Everything has a price. The art is knowing it."
